EXTENDED SERVICES AT STRATTON UPPER SCHOOL

Stratton Upper School is an extended school.  This means we offer (and can signpost you and your children to) additional services and activities.

School staff provide a variety of activities for pupils at lunchtime and after school.  There is good extra-curricular sports provision, additional support for gifted & talented students, and a Film Club, among others.  There is also the chance for young people to pursue their interests in magazine production, street dance, cheerleading and music.  Details of some of these are on the school website – click the link on the left called ‘Extra Curricular’.  You can also find out more by looking at ‘Headlines’ or by contacting the Extended Services Co-ordinator Mandy Franklin on 07532 454132 or mandy.franklin@holmemead.beds.sch.uk.

These activities are all voluntary but we know that this type of structured yet informal opportunity helps to make moving to Upper School easier for your child.

In recent months Stratton has offered parents and carers training on basic money management, e-safety and cookery, as well as an adult learning information session.

Stratton cluster of schools has a Parent Support Assistant, Debbie Gauntlett, and her remit is to ensure schools have up to date information on support services for parents, and that information is displayed and accessible.  Debbie will deliver universal parent information workshops, to include Speakeasy (Family Planning Association course on talking to teenagers) and she will organise informal activities for parents so they can get to know one another.  She can liaise with parents whose children are new to school and with parents who find it difficult to engage with school.   She will refer parents who may need additional support to the appropriate person or agency.  You can contact Debbie on 07754 838299 or debbie.gauntlett@holmemead.beds.sch.uk.
