The tourism industry is more important to the UK than it has ever been. It is ever changing as customer preferences alter and the world changes. This subject equips you for this industry or provides you with many of the skills needed to work in any area. We investigate destinations and why people visit, customer service, Adventure Tourism and event management. This develops skills in team working, planning, organisation, research and independent thinking. We use presentations as part of the assessment as well as producing reports – all applied to destinations in the UK or around the world. We learn in an enjoyable and practical way with visits and the chance to organise events. We work in teams regularly and this provides a real insight into a career in tourism. AIMS OF THE COURSE
To develop and sustain an interest in travel and tourism, the scale and importance of, and the issues affecting the development of the industry and its potential effect on employment opportunities. You will have a mixture of practical and theory based learning that gives great skills to be used in the industry or in your future.

Unit 15: Visitor Attractions (tbc)
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
There are a range of assessment methods and this qualification would suit learners where exams are not the preferred method of assessment
Assessment is by Assignments, Controlled assessment and one exam worth 25%
WHERE CAN IT LEAD?
This could lead to a career in the travel, tourism or event management industries or further study in these areas. It also develops skills in team working, planning, organisation, research and independent thinking, useful in any further education or employment setting.
