The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

Why Choose the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award?

We are delighted to be able to offer our students the opportunity to take part in this Award. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is a personalised programme aimed at supporting young people (aged 14-25) with their personal development. It offers students the chance to let individual talents shine and to develop skills vital to employers and further education in an enjoyable, challenging and rewarding setting. The Award encourages students to get involved in volunteering out of school to give back to their local community.

The Award operates at three levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold. We are currently expanding our work in this area. We offer the Silver Award in Year 12 and also work with other year groups. In addition to learning a new skill, engaging in physical activity and volunteering in our local community, there is now an Expedition Section, a 2 or 3 day journey in the countryside. This is a new experience for many and encourages self-reliance, independence and teamwork.
