Aims of the Course
To introduce and develop the following life skills and attributes:
- Learning to take responsibility
- Managing relationships
- Valuing diversity
- Health and well-being
- Developing independence
Developing resilience and the role of self-belief, how to maintain physical and mental well-being, how to manage strong emotions like fear and anger, the value of diversity and the reasons why diversity can sometimes lead to conflict.
How to manage risk effectively, personal safety, basic first-aid, assertiveness and bullying.
Sex and relationships
The medical names and functions of the sexual organs, the signs of pregnancy, how to take responsibility for your sexual health, contraception, the risks of sexual activity, consent, exploitation, and how to maintain healthy relationships.
Where students can access information, guidance and support is highlighted throughout the course.
